Obligation to Submit SCIP Notifications Includes Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway

On 31 , Jan 2023 | In | By Monika Srubarova

The SCIP database for substances of concern in articles or in complex objects (products) has been established by ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) under the Waste Framework Directive (WFD). The data entered into the SCIP database is intended to inform waste managers and consumers about substances of very high concern (SVHC) on the REACH Candidate List in articles.

EU-based companies have been required to report to ECHA via the SCIP database since January 2021. The requirement has recently been extended to the European Economic Area (EEA) to include Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway as of 7 November 2022.
