The packaging law is administered by the packaging register Lucid in Osnabrück as before.

However, as of July 1, 2022, the obligation to register for companies that place packs filled with goods on the market will be extended.

A registration requirement for final distributors of service packaging is also being introduced.

Information on the types of packaging is mandatory upon registration, in particular quantity reports. Electronic marketplaces, platform dealers and fulfillment service providers are being given more responsibility than before.

Summary: 

Anyone who puts packaging on the market in accordance with Section 15 (1) of the Packaging Act, such as transport packaging, sales and outer packaging, for which participation in the system is not possible due to system incompatibility according to Section 7 (5) will then be required to register.

Sales packaging filled with hazardous substances, reusable packaging and one-way beverage packaging that are subject to a deposit.
