As we informed you in our blog in January, companies placing products on the French market are obligated to prepare a 5-year waste prevention and eco-design plan starting 2023. This obligation is applicable to all sectors subject to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and concerns among others electronic and electrical equipment, batteries and packaging.
The waste prevention and eco-design plan is developed along three axes:
- recyclability,
- renewable resources,
- recycled content.
Waste prevention and eco-design plans are to be submitted to the respective producer responsibility organizations according to their own deadlines.
The first deadline for the submission of the plan with the French producer responsibility organizations Ecosysteme, Ecologic and Screlec is end of July 2023. The non-submission or delayed submission of the waste prevention and eco-design plan is subject to substantial sanctions.
