ECHA added 8 new substances to the REACH Candidate List

On 09 , Jul 2021 | In | By Ute Binder

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published the new REACH candidate list on July 8, 2021. Eight Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) were added to the list. The Candidate List of substances of very high concern for Authorization now contains 219 substances.

Some of the newly added substances are used as solvents, flame retardants or in the manufacture of plastics products. They were added to the Candidate List due to their hazards to people, e.g. being toxic for reproduction, carcinogenic, persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic, respiratory sensitizers or endocrine disruptors.

Companies supplying articles containing SVHCs in a concentration above 0.1% (weight by weight) have to fulfil their information and notification obligations, including the requirement to enter the data into the SCIP database (as of 5 January 2021).
