Denmark: Registration deadline for packaging ends on 31 August 2024

On 21 , May 2024 | In | By Ute Binder

Denmark will be the last EU country to introduce extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging on 1 January 2025, thereby complying with existing EU law.

However, manufacturers who market packaged products in Denmark must already register in the Danish DPA producer register. This is stipulated in the Implementing Regulation on the Registration and Notification of Packaging, which came into force on 1 April 2024. The deadline for registration is 31 August 2024.

In addition, it is necessary to submit a quantity report on the packaging expected to be made available on the Danish market in 2024. The quantity reports must be prepared for both household packaging and commercial packaging. The quantities must be stated in kilograms and by type of packaging material. Appendix 2 lists the different packaging fractions such as cardboard, paper, or plastic.

DPA, the organisation responsible for processing the registration and quantity declarations, charges a registration fee.

We are happy to support you in implementing the new EPR obligations in Denmark.
