Conflict Minerals: New Version of Reporting Templates available

On 14 , May 2024 | In | By Monika Srubarova

The Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) on April 26, 2024 resulted in the newest version (6.4) of the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT), and the newest version (3.1) of Extended Mineral Reporting Template (EMRT).

Primarily designed for the exchange of 3TG conflict minerals data across supply chains to ensure compliance with the U.S. Dodd-Frank Act of 2010, CMRT 6.4 brings several changes:

  • Corrections to all reported bugs and errors
  • Updates to highlighting on the Smelter List tabs
  • Updates to the Smelter Reference List

EMRT serves as a pivotal tool for conveying due diligence information concerning the presence of cobalt and mica within supply chains, aligning with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas. The following changes have been made:

  • Corrections to all reported bugs and errors
  • Updates to highlighting on the Smelter List tabs
  • Updates to Smelter Reference List and Standard Smelter List
  • Added German translation to file

The Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI), which was founded in 2008, has published the CMRT as an industry-standard reporting template to encourage companies to source minerals responsibly and to help them be transparent in disclosing smelter information in their supply chain.

The US Dodd-Frank Act, the EU Regulation 2017/821, or the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), and other conflict minerals laws recommend reporting on the 3TGs (tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold) or cobalt and mica due diligence.
