A new waste register for reporting hazardous waste is now open at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. Starting from November 1st, companies and businesses that handle hazardous waste must report information to the register.
This means that they must report no later than two working days after they have transported waste away from their facility.
Everyone who reports to the new waste register contributes to a clearer picture of the hazardous waste path through the country. This increases the possibility that the waste is handled correctly. It still happens that hazardous waste is left in forests, lakes and land where it can harm people and the environment.
Since almost all businesses release some type of hazardous waste, such as electronics, fluorescent lamps or various chemicals, it is estimated that over one million companies and businesses are affected by the new register.
