RMI Template Updates (April 2026): Key Changes in EMRT 2.11, CMRT 6.6, and AMRT 1.31

On 05 , May 2026 | In | By Arjun Cheran

On April 17, 2026, the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) released updated versions of its three core reporting templates:

The Extended Minerals Reporting Template (EMRT 2.11), the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT 6.6), and the Additional Minerals Reporting Template (AMRT 1.31). While these updates do not introduce sweeping structural changes, they carry meaningful operational relevance for supply chain compliance teams.

1. EMRT 2.11 (Extended Minerals Reporting Template)

Key Updates

    • ISO Standardization: Country and region names updated to ISO short names
    • Declaration Tab Fix: Resolved date input issue affecting data entry accuracy
    • Smelter Data: Updated Smelter Reference List and Standard Smelter List

2. CMRT 6.6 (Conflict Minerals Reporting Template)

Key Updates

    • New Product Fields added
“Requester Product Number”, “Requester Product Name”
    • ISO Standardisation
Updated country and region naming convention
    • Smelter Data Update
Latest smelter and standard lists included
    • Supporting Guidance Available
Updated guidance on: Covered Countries, Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas (CAHRAs) (Questions 3 & 4)

3. AMRT 1.31 (Additional Minerals Reporting Template)

Key Updates

    • ISO Standardisation
      Alignment with ISO country naming
    • Declaration Tab Fix
Same date input correction as EMRT
    • Smelter Data Update
Updated reference and standard smelter lists

Additional Context

AMRT continues to serve as a guidance-oriented template, supporting:

    • Mineral prioritisation, ESG risk identification, Responsible sourcing strategies

Next release expected: Fall 2026

Cross-Template Changes (All Three)

The following updates apply across EMRT, CMRT, and AMRT:

    • ISO short names for countries and regions
    • Updated smelter reference data
    • No conflict with IPC-1755 standard

These changes are designed to improve data quality and interoperability without introducing new reporting burdens.

Required Actions for Companies

To stay aligned with RMI expectations:

    • Adopt Latest Versions Immediately: Use EMRT 2.11, CMRT 6.6, and AMRT 1.31 for all new data collection cycles.
    • Update Internal Systems: Adjust country name mappings to ISO format, Integrate new CMRT product fields where applicable.
    • Validate Data Inputs: Recheck declaration tab entries and confirm smelter data against updated lists.
    • Communicate with Suppliers: Ensure suppliers are using the latest templates to avoid data inconsistencies.

Summary

The April 2026 RMI updates are focused refinements, not structural changes. The most relevant points are:

    • CMRT 6.6 introduces new product-level traceability fields
    • All templates align with ISO country naming standards
    • Smelter data is updated across the board
    • Minor usability fixes improve data accuracy

These updates require limited adjustments, but timely adoption is essential to maintain compliance and data integrity.

For organisations managing complex supply chains, these changes reinforce a key requirement: accurate, standardised, and traceable data across all reporting layers.

1cc GmbH is available to support organisations navigating these updates, from template adoption and supplier communication and full compliance framework alignment.
