The French Ministry for the Environment has announced the new deadline for the implementation of the extended producer responsibility for industrial and commercial packaging. According to a press release, the operational launch of the scheme has been postponed to 1 January 2027.
In explaining the decision, the Ministry reiterates reasons previously cited for the delay, including the late publication of the tariffs set by the producer responsibility organizations and the new insights arising from the European Commission’s guidelines on the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR).
This latest postponement is intended to give the economic operators concerned more time to join an accredited producer responsibility organization (PRO) and to prepare the data required for reporting the quantities of packaging placed on the market.
