SCIP-Database: Data can be entered now

On 01 , Jan 1970 | In | By Wolfram Kühn

From now on companies can enter required information on Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in ECHA's SCIP database. So far, only the functions of this new database could be tested in trial versions. For articles containing SVHC on ECHA's candidate list, companies must submit their data by 5 January 2021.

Against the background of EU’s Waste Framework Directive (WFD), the database will keep this information available for the whole life cycle of products and materials, including the waste phase. As producers and distributors used to have obligations regarding notification and information on substances in articles under REACH for many years, they are supposed to be aware of their obligations in regards to SCIP. It is now important to gather additional and more comprehensive information.
