The Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) has released the first Pilot Reporting Template (version 1.0). The template was developed to provide a free, voluntary and standardized format to collect due diligence information for minerals and metals.
The new reporting template excludes gold, tantalum, tin, tungsten, cobalt and mica, which are already covered by other templates: the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) and the Extended Minerals Reporting Template (EMRT).
The scope of the Pilot Reporting Template is defined by the company itself. A maximum of ten relevant minerals and metals may be added, e.g., aluminum, copper, lithium or nickel. The use of the reporting template endorses a risk-based approach with respect to due diligence.
