If your products contain substances of very high concern (SVHC) in a concentration above 0.1 % (w/w) you might have already information and notification requirements.
From 5 January 2021 on additional obligations will apply for suppliers of products with a SVHC-concentration above 0,1 % (w/w).
Deriving from Article 9 of the EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) further information needs to be provided to the so-called „SCIP“-Database (Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products)).
The new obligation aims to disclose information on the presence of SVHC during the products whole lifecycle. The information will be publicly available and can be consulted by consumers and also by recyclers to identify waste fractions containing SVHC and enable them to handle them separate from other waste fractions. Please note that the new information requirements will apply in addition to the already existing information obligations under Article 33 of the EU REACH-Regulation and goes beyond the existing dataset.
