Czech Republic: “Visible Fee” has to be displayed on invoices for EEE

On 26 , Apr 2021 | In | By Ute Binder

In Czech Republic, a mandatory “visible fee” for electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) was introduced by the new End of life product Act No. 542/2020:

As of January 1, 2021, producers, distributors and retailers of any EEE - non-household equipment included - must display the costs for take-back and recycling of EEE in a separate line on the invoice, based on units or per kilogram.

As the Act does not specify in detail how the visible fee has to be shown on the invoice, Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs) might advise their members on the practical implementation.

In the past, according to the repealed Waste Act 185/2001, producers were not obligated to display a visible fee, but if they chose to do so, each entity in the distribution chain had to display it, too.
